Our students spent a week collecting 2 litre plastic bottles with many different colours. After they collected plenty they removed the caps on all the bottles and the teachers helped them to cut these caps into flower patterns. The caps now looked like flower petals. The students then used thin wires to make the stalks for the flower petals. The teachers also helped the learners to cut out Sprite bottles into the shape of leaves. So each flower was made up of a bottle cap, a thin wire and a leaf cut from a Sprite bottle. The students joined these individual flowers to make decorative bouquets which were used to decorate our classrooms. This activity taught our students the importance of recycling and reducing pollution in order to save water.
